How to use android vlc streamer

Hi all, I have a question: I'd like to use VLC to grab a YouTube livestream and save it as raw input. However, whenever I do this, the resulting file is empty. The only option that works is to play the stream in VLC and record it, but the recording's quality is lower than the original quality, I think.
